Poole had experimented with PVC roofing before;  but this time the roof area was a lot larger and required a new system for tensioning. Each roof was designed as one panel framed by RHS sections of steel. The eave structure was fitted with 22mm diameter bolts. By winding nuts attached to the bolts the roofing frame was able to be stretched to create enormous tension in the fabric (Walker, 2003).
